Safeway plans San Jose store closure in November; staff will transfer

Safeway plans to close its store at 6150 Bollinger Road in San Jose on or around November 13, 2026. The location has served the area for 57 years.

The employee arrangements matter: a company spokesperson said staff will keep their jobs and move to other stores in the area. This location closure should not be counted as announced layoffs.

The company has not disclosed a specific reason for closing this store. Other Safeway locations continue operating. The November date remains a plan, not evidence that the store has already closed.
